Privacy policy
This site does not ask you to sign up and does not see what you type into its tools. The main ways data is processed are hosting, visitor statistics from Google Analytics, advertising and emails you choose to send us.
Updated:
Summary
- There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms and no newsletter.
- Our own code sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Google Analytics measures how the site is used, with cookies where the law allows or you consent.
- The Ogham converter and the copy buttons run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes basic request data to deliver pages and protect the site.
- The site shows, or is preparing to show, ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show and measure those ads, and you can control this.
- If you email us, we use your address only to reply.
The rest of this page explains each point in detail.
Who is responsible
This policy covers celtictattoosdesigns.com and all of its language versions. “We” and “us” mean the independent publisher of Celtic Tattoos Designs. You can reach us about anything in this policy at contact@celtictattoosdesigns.com.
Information you give us
The only personal information we receive directly is what you put in an email to us: your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it to answer your message and, for corrections, to check and fix the page you wrote about. We keep emails only as long as we need them for that purpose, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
We do not run contact forms, comment sections or accounts, so there is no other way for you to send us personal information through the site.
Information collected automatically
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare. When your browser requests a page, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical data such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser type and the referring page. This is used to deliver the site quickly, to keep it secure, and to block abusive traffic. We do not use this data to identify individual visitors. Cloudflare’s handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to understand how the site is used: which pages and designs people view, how they arrive (for example from a search engine), roughly which country they are in, and what kind of device and browser they use. This helps us decide which symbols, guides and designs to improve. We see these figures only as totals and reports, not as information about named people.
- Google Analytics sets first-party cookies whose names start with _ga to tell visits apart. They do not contain your name or email address.
- Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Google uses them briefly to estimate a general location and then discards them.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: analytics cookies stay switched off unless you give consent. Without consent, Google Analytics only receives limited, cookieless signals.
- You can stop Google Analytics on every site with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
How Google handles this data is described in Google’s privacy policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Fonts and assets
All fonts and images are served from this site’s own domain, so your browser does not contact font services or image networks to display our pages. The only third-party scripts are Google Analytics and, when ads are shown, Google AdSense, both loaded from Google’s servers.
Cookies
Our own code does not set any cookies and does not use local storage or similar browser storage.
Cookies on this site come from Google: the _ga cookies of Google Analytics (described above) and advertising cookies (described in the next section). You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser’s settings. The site will keep working normally without them.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
To pay for hosting and new designs, this site shows, or is preparing to show, advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertising works like this:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Ads may also be measured, for example to count how many times an ad was seen or clicked, and to limit how often you see the same ad.
You have several ways to control this:
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google in Google’s Ads Settings. You will still see ads, but they will be based on general factors such as the page you are reading rather than your interests.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info and, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
- Google explains how it uses data from sites that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a consent message before cookies are used for personalised ads. You can change your choice later through the same message. If you do not give consent, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use limited cookies for purposes such as frequency capping and fraud prevention.
We do not see the personal data that Google uses to choose ads, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Tools that run in your browser
The Ogham name converter and the “copy prompt” buttons in the gallery work entirely on your device. When you type a name into the converter, it is turned into Ogham by code running in your browser. The name is not sent to us, not logged and not stored. The same is true when you download the Ogham SVG file: it is created on your device.
Links to other websites
Some of our pages link to other websites, such as museums and reference works. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. Please check their policies when you visit them.
Children
This site is about tattoos, which in most countries are only available to adults. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in parts of Europe), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you,
- ask us to correct or delete it,
- object to or restrict how it is used,
- withdraw consent you have given, for example to personalised ads,
- complain to your local data protection authority.
If you live in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, the legal basis for answering your emails is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and for personalised advertising cookies it is your consent.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, note that we do not sell personal information. Advertising cookies set by Google may count as “sharing” for targeted advertising under some state laws. You can opt out through the advertising controls listed above, and by using a browser that sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@celtictattoosdesigns.com. We will reply within the time the law requires.
International transfers and security
Cloudflare and Google operate worldwide, so data they process may be handled in countries other than your own, including the United States. Both companies describe the safeguards they use in their own privacy policies. The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles data, for example by adding new analytics or advertising partners, we will update this page first and change the “Updated” date at the top.
